Well my day had a good start to it:
8 miles! This is so far my longest run post-injury. The time was slower than I’d care for, but my coworker Jenna came over this morning and we ran it together. Knowing I can get the distance down is great, and now I just need to pick up the pace. If I stay pain free in the ankle region and keep training, I don’t see why I wouldn’t be able to run the half marathon I signed up for April 7th 😀
When Jenna came over she brought me a sweet treat: Kit Kats!!
Kit Kats are a big deal here in Japan. we have many limited edition flavors throughout the year. You can frequently find green tea and almond, around Halloween you can find pumpkin pudding, etc.
Today she brought me Amaou Strawberry Kit Kats from Kyushu. Kyushu is famous for growing the biggest, most flavorful strawberries in all of Japan, and let me be the first to assure you they are delicious!!
Jenna and I enjoyed a late lunch together before she had to head into work for some night classes. I freshened up and headed out to Akasaka-Mitsuke, where the Tokyo Ladies Hash House Harriers running club was meeting. My friend Cole was in charge of creating a fun trail for everyone to run, and I stayed with everyone’s bags while they ran. I caught up on some emails and then continued reading City of Bones. Anyone a fan of the Mortal Instruments novels? My niece Vanessa loves these books and convinced me to give them a go!
Once all the runners (including Dan) were back, I was free to leave my post and head to the trains. My friend Annmaree snapped a quick picture while we waited!
Yukie, me, Dan and Luke
The picture doesn’t do it justice, but I’m wearing a new hoodie that’s the prettiest shade of minty green! Perfect for spring. My mommy got it for me last time I was visiting Oregon. Thanks Ma!
Now it’s time to enjoy the rest of my evening with some tea! Tonight’s mug I picked up at Universal Studios Japan this past fall. It’s Snoopy and all his siblings! Here in Japan people love Snoopy, and there’s a lot of merchandise for his siblings from the Daisy Hill Puppy Farm. Love it!
Tomorrow is finally Thursday- tanabata dance class! Meeting my girl friend Christine around 11:30-noon for lunch, possibly a light run, shopping for yukatas (summer, light weight kimonos for dance) and of course dance class! Enjoy your Wednesday!
Hey.. Really nice write up and good mileage on todays run. Do keep writing about your experience on runs.
