Neither Dan nor I worked today, and we had nice weather, so we decided to have some fun!
First I had brunch with a good friend I met while volunteering in Ishinomaki last summer. I’m so glad I’ve been able to keep in touch with so many volunteer friends! She took me to a fun restaurant in Shibuya called The Pink Cow. I had delicious raspberry pancakes with cinnamon syrup, and it was heaven!
We caught up and shared teaching stories, then said goodbye and I met Dan. He surprised me by bringing Penny!

The three of us walked out to Yoyogi Park. On the way, we stopped at Meiji Shrine!

Penny was a good girl and used her leash!
We walked around the shrine a bit, then headed to Yoyogi Park

We walked around Yoyogi for a while, past yummy food carts and performers before returning home. We decided to go to the park across the street from our apartment for a little walk.

More exciting news- I have decided to put more attention to detail into my photography, and invested in my first DSLR camera! I’m excited to fiddle with settings and capture the best pictures I can of my life here while I’m in Japan and when I travel.
I’ve also set up a Flikr account so I can share more photos! You can bookmark and keep up with my budding photography hobby here: www.flickr.com/photos/laurelshane/
We came home and I read while Dan and Penny prompty fell asleep on the couch. I just started reading the third Millennium trilogy book, The Girl Who Kicked the Hornet’s Nest by Stieg Larsson. Later Dan and I made chicken fried rice for dinner. A perfect way to end the weekend!
Looks like a fun day! Penny is so adorable (and so are you and Dan!)
I’m excited to see what you do with your DSLR!
